The first time you launch and load your boat can be quite a stressful experience, but there is no need to panic!

After a few attempts, you will have figured out the process and can probably do it with your eyes closed! The key is to stay calm and make sure you do things slowly, without rushing. Even if things don’t seem to be going according to plan and there is a problem or collision, usually no damage will be done if you proceed calmly and slowly.

Although it is possible to launch and load your boat alone, we always recommend having at least one other person there to help you.

One person should take control of the boat while the other takes control of the car and the boat trailer. Always try to use a designated slipway to launch or load your boat, these are built specifically at an angle that will allow your boat to be afloat without submerging the rear of your vehicle.

Things to remember in the moment of launching and loading your boat:

Light Board:

If you have a removable light board on your boat trailer, be sure to remove it before backing into the water, so you can avoid accidents while becoming proficient at launching your boat.

Fit the Plug:

When launching your boat, be sure to fit the plug. There’s nothing more embarrassing than an emergency trip back to the boat ramp when you realize you’re slowly sinking! But when you load your boat onto the trailer, it’s a good idea to remove the plug to allow the water to drain while the boat is on land.

Remove tie-down straps

Before backing your boat trailer out into the water, be sure to remove the tie-down straps that are holding the boat to the trailer.

These are some tips to help make you feel safer and calmer when launching your boat into the water. Good luck and we are sure that in a short time you will be an expert.
